About the Author 1789-1883
"An excellent read" according to Guy Bernard. Born in the state of South Dakota and raised in the state of Oregon I had no contact with slavery while growing up. In my adulthood, thru a number of associates, both black and white, I gained an understanding of the lives and perspectives of both groups. Not. What? Not what I expected. Should have been skeptical. This was not the book but a portion or summary of an important work.. Zelda Allard said What a remarkable man. I am ashamed of this period of time---at the same time I am so proud of Josiah Henson and I .am sure there were more slaves like him. His integrity is so admirable. Our God must have wept over how his children can be so cruel to His other children!
