DESCRIPTION:
B. Wood said Not as good as the first.. I was a little disappointed with the second book. I feel like, as a reader, I became interested and invested in the first book with Llandry and the Draykon's story, but in Lokant we switch over to Eva and her ancestry. I didn't mind finding out more about Eva, but I felt like it overshadowed Llandry's story. I found myself wanting to rush through her and Tren's POVs to find out more about the Draykons, but I ended up disappointed. And what happened to Devary Kant?? He played such a big role in the first book and essentially fell off the map in the second. Along with a few other instances, it seemed to me that . "Disappointing sequel to Draykon" according to Nik517. I recently became enamored with Charlotte English's writing & this is the third book of hers I've read - not including the Malykant novellas. "Lokant" felt disappointingly flat for me. The great descriptions and world building from the first book were absent and I didn't feel as much interest in the characters this time, either. Many questions were answered but it seemed like a rushed filler and the elements I've come to enjoy in her writing (descriptions, dialogue) weren't there. I plan on buying the third book and am hopeful it will be better.. "Read this series!" according to Emily Rodriguez. Beautifully written, very engaging, and very lovable characters who have a lot of depth to them. The book is written in several different perspectives, which are written in compliment to each other, and never leaves the reader confused; aside from the mysteries the characters themselves encounter. Each perspective intertwines and leaves layers that create an extremely enjoyable and engaging story. The plot has a lot of depth, depth that is easy to understand and gather. A perfect read for older teens and young adults.
With one dead and one vanished - literally - Eva has little to go on save a book taken from a mysterious tower in the Lowers, its cover marked with the strange word "Lokant." Llandry Sanfaer is anxious to learn more about the glorious draykoni, whose story is so inexplicably bound up with her own. But when she brings another draykon back from the Long Sleep, she finds she has made a grave mistake. The long-vanished draykon race has been restored to the Seven Realms, and the mystery of the istore stone is resolved. And Llandry must learn why she appears to be their primary target. Who are the enigmatic sorcerers who woke the draykon? Their powers are beyond anything she has ever known. But Lady Eva Glostrum returns to Glour City with many questions unanswered. Worse, a white-haired sorcerer with a talent for mind control is stalking her across the Worlds As war builds between humankind and draykoni, Eva must uncover the identities of the sinister white-haired practitioners - and come to terms with the truth of her own heritage
