Rarely will I not finish a book but this was Louis Brooks Rarely will I not finish a book but this was one of those times. Poorly written and unoriginal story telling. I read the first couple of chapters after seeing a positive review but ended up putting it aside.. Eric said Super clever writing, epic story w/o epic vulgarity, awesome story line, likable charactersREAD IT! You will love it!. I gotta say, I absolutely LOVED this book and am stoked for the rest of the series. I have been devouring fantasy series lately (Dark Tower by Steven King, A Song of Ice & Fire by George RR Martin, Night Angel by Brent Weeks, and just starting the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb.) Basically I finished Dark Tower series about a year ago with my mind absolutely blown thinking nothing could ever suck me in like that did, but then I started ASOIAF and was once again completely immersed. When I got to the end I was so devastated that the next book wasn't out yet, so I go. Great story! Great characters! Loved it! austinrlewis Second Cataclysm is a great novel. Smith and Garlitz are great story tellers. Second Cataclysm does a phenomenal job setting the stage for a truly epic tale. This book introduces us to many great characters. Garlitz and Smith take their time to give us the back story which provides a window into their character and their journeys.Garlitz and Smith are masters of painting scenes and characters with intricate details without taking away from the momentum of the story.
