Carol Coombe said GRIM, PAINFUL AND NOT VERY SMART. If one has lived in the same timeline as the Getty family, there is much of interest here. It is good to make the acquaintance of individual members of this extraordinary family. This is not a rich feast of facts blended together to make a story however. How I wish it had been. We learn to little of the family founder Jean Paul Getty, beyond the kn. The Curse of Money Alone Jeniup This excellent narrative of the sad personal legacy of Jean Paul Gettysburg is an awakening to the perils of money without a sense of one's place among humanity itself and family, in particular. An eye opener into the catharsis that is the survivor story of the remaining Gettysburg and their painful journey together.. I enjoyed Painfully Rich -- it was an easy read and I enjoyed Painfully Rich -- it was an easy read and gave some interesting insight to the lives of the very rich. It was nice to see that the younger generations of Gettys eventually learned how to balance their wealth with a degree of humanity and concern for others. I would recommend this book.
