DESCRIPTION:
. In MathStart books, pictures do more than tell stories; they teach math. Who Digs? and Who Builds? are his first two books with HarperCollins. Mr. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he has a strong background in design and art direction. Rex lives in Brooklyn, New York. Drawing on
Jack stacks up blocks high. Two make a robot, five make a boat, and fifteen makewhatever you can imagine! Math becomes child's play as young readers are introduced to the skill of counting on, a first step toward mastering addition.
Like Murphy's Beep Beep, Vroom Vroom! (2000), this entry in the MathStart series makes arithmetic a part of imaginative play. Turn the page, and a wild, colorful double-page spread shows what his simple stack becomes with the addition of a little imagination--a robot. All rights reserved. Rex's bright illustrations will encourage even young preschoolers to point at shapes and colors as they count and add on. Hazel RochmanCopyright © American Library Association. Jack stac
"Great series for Math!" according to iowateacher. Another great MathStart book. I love this series for reinforcing Math concepts in the classroom! In this imaginitive book Jack makes many items with his blocks. The students love to see what will come next, and they choose this book repeatedly.. "Great math book for children with autism. Helps build imagination." according to Amazon Customer. This is one of my boys favorite books to read. He's an autistic boy and he likes everything to do with math and this book helps him to understand math concepts like addition a little better. The illustration are cool and he thinks they are funny. I see now that he is trying to use his imagination more because of this book. He sometimes pretends he has a hot dog stand and he tries to give my Lego hot dog. Lol! Now all he talks about is adding blocks and knocking them d. Basic addition in a cute format C. L. Yarborough My kids will say the sum before I can when I am reading the book. (By this I mean, that I will read that Jack adds 3 blocks to 2 and the kids will say 5!) We find all the books by Stuart J. Murphy to be as entertaining and educational as this one.If you like these, you might also like Leaping Lizards (skip counting by 5's), and Spunky Monkeys on Parade (Skip counting 2's, 3's and 4's). My son also likes The Grapes of Math by Greg Tang, but my daughter does not like it
