Ranks This book offers concise, very well edited information about the key personalities behind the development of psychoanalytic thinking from Freud through the present focus on intersubjectivity. The Scharffs are exceptional in their integration of sophisticated understanding of the sequential world views of the writers, and of the linkages with current neurobiology. I find this a key reference to have available on mhy b. Ted said from a non psychiatrist. I read this in hardcover several years ago. It was a wonderful exploration of object relations psychoanalysis and introduction to a wide range of hitherto unknown and newly found exciting authors. I loved this book and am so glad to see it available in kindle edition. This is a wonderful cross section.. "Excellent compendium" according to N. Richman. Scharff has compiled a collection of abridged articles, which with his introductions to them, serve as a good overview in Object Relations Theory for the beginning student.
