Caliban is a strong deviation from Ennis' usual work. An enjoyable sc-fi horror read, but nothing that hasn't been done before. A solid work of old school "Aliens" style horror sci-fi. Now it is pretty common knowledge that sci-fi has never been Ennis' forte or medium of choice, for this is the only pure sci-fi series he has ever really written. Yet other books of his had many sci-fi and futuristic elements, such as Just a Pilgrim, Bloody Mary, and his older work on Judge Dredd, but Caliban is Garth Ennis' first attempt at a classic pure minimalistic sci-fi series. I love Ennis but this book was not his best I love Ennis but this book was not his best, maybe his worst. But Ennis at his worst still makes a good story.
